Aber MethSoc has been a society since 1950

A 60 year reunion was held in 2013 at St. Paul's Methodist Centre

Our current Church building was built in 1992, celebrating its Silver Jubilee in 2017

Aber MethSoc became affiliated with the Student Christian Movement (SCM) in ...

MethSoc started going to Tresaith as our annual retreat in the early 2000's

Previous retreat destinations have included Blaencaron YH in Tregaron and Llanymawddwy cottage.

Our current MethSoc Logo was designed by Joanna Patron Bell in 2004

The tradition of meeting yearly with Bangor MethSoc ran between 2009 and 2015

If you have any additional information or knowledge of the history of Aber MethSoc (or spot any mistakes in the below list of Presidents) we'd love to hear from you.

Wall of Fame:

Past Presidents of MethSoc

Aber MethSoc has a long and extensive history. We are lucky enoungh that many congregational members of St. Paul's Church are past MethSoc members and share past stories and history with us.

Many have also taken on the possition of Staff rep. (or Staff President) including Sylvia Lutkins, Tim Phillips (1999-2003) and our current Staff Representative Glyn Jenkins who has been in the role since 2003.

The number of MethSoc's in the Uk have decreased dramatically from over 17 in 1999 to only 5 as of 2015. Up until 2005 we had a national MethSoc gathering and even a national MethSoc magazine (called The Word - produced by the Methodist Student Link, MSL)

In 2016 the National MethSoc Gathering was held bringing together 3 of the remaining MethSocs (Aber, Birmingham and Oxford). This grew into the National Methodist Students' Gathering in 2017.
